Do I need copy editing or proofreading?

Proofreading is strictly technical and mechanical (think: grammar, spelling, syntax) without any focus on the content or message of a document. This is a last step before going live just to tighten the writing and catch any last errors that may have snuck in. Copy editing is a bit more fluid, extensive, and collaborative in that we will work together to improve your copy both from a messaging and mechanical perspective.

Can you edit and write?

Yes! These are two processes that go hand in hand. Because I am trained and experienced in both writing and editing, I typically line up each process one after the other. This allows for creative work followed by structured cleanup. Not to worry—you’ll have visibility along the way.

What is your turnaround time?

We’ll discuss your time frame prior to kicking off a project together, and I will work within your deadline. Any part of the editing or proofreading process can be adjusted to fit your time needs.

How do you add edits to a document?

I can deliver your edits through one of the following methods:

  • Microsoft Word via Track Changes

  • Google Docs via Suggesting

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader via Comments

I do not inject written copy directly onto the published medium so that we can ensure you have keep both an edited and original version.

How do you price your services?

Pricing will vary depending on the complexity of the copy or whether we work together in a retained or subscription basis. You will always get a transparent, itemized project estimate before we kickoff a project or partnership. Visit the Services page for more details!
